Head Coach - Mike Akai 

With over 40 years of professional, university, youth competitive and recreational soccer experience, Mike Akai has always focused on teaching and developing technically and tactically sound soccer players. His disciplined and engaging approach helps to inspire players of all ages to bring their best to every game while adhering to the principles of fair play. Mike’s laser focus on ensuring strong fundamentals as well as advanced technical skills and thinking through scenarios and problem solving on the field distinguishes him as an elite-level soccer professional. His life’s long soccer teaching passion and skill development knowledge has helped to propel players to the Canadian and US collegiate level, Canadian national teams, and professional clubs both in North America and in Europe.
Mike possesses an impressive soccer CV. Having held the roles of head coach, assistant coach and technical director for several programs and clubs in Ontario and Quebec including assistant coach for Kingston’s former (and only) professional soccer team, the Kingston FC, Canadian Soccer League champions in 2014. More currently, Mike serves as assistant coach for the Royal Military College (RMC) men’s varsity team, a position he’s held for the last 17 years. As sole proprietor, Technical Director, and Head Coach of the Kingston-Belleville Football Club (KBFC) Pro Soccer Academy, Mike brings his wealth of skills, knowledge, and experience to area youth to help them achieve higher levels of soccer performance while having fun and contributing positively to the community.
